Information about traditional (New Year) in Vietnam
- Tet in Vietnam (New Year), is a big, long holiday. Normally it will be about 10 days, of which 4 days before New Year’s Eve and 6 days after New Year’s Eve. According to our traditional culture, New Year is when people who go to work everywhere will return to reunite with their families. We will not work and return to our families. There will be parties to relax and entertain after a tiring year of work. Therefore, there will be very few businesses open to welcome customers during Tet, and if anyone is open, everything will be very expensive. We have an unwritten rule but everyone understands: working on Tet days will be paid 300% of salary. This means that when restaurants or hotels open for business, they will have to pay 300% of their employees’ salaries, and they will also sell services 3 times more expensive than usual. We too, if we pick you up on Tet, we will also pay our employees 300% of their salary. Your food and sleeping services on the itinerary will also be 300% of the selling price… and the price we sell the tour to you must also be 300% compared to normal days.

- So we have a little advice for you. If possible, choose a hotel to stay, or go to a country that doesn’t have the same culture as ours. Because to travel that day, you will have to pay a lot of money. Furthermore, the services are not as good as usual…. because there is no other choice. 90% of hotels, motels or restaurants will be closed, so finding a place to eat or sleep will be very difficult, and the quality of service may not be as expected.
