FAQs

1- I’ve never been to Ha Giang. Is it safe ?
Yes. Vietnam is widely regarded as one of the safest countries for travelers, and many of our guests have told us that feeling safe is one of the reasons they chose to travel here. In Ha Giang, we experience that sense of safety in everyday local life. In many places, it is still common for us to leave our motorbikes outside the house without even locking them. Local communities are friendly and welcoming, and Ha Giang is generally a very safe and comfortable place for travelers to explore.
I don’t speak Vietnamese. How can I communicate?
No worries! Our English-speaking guides are here to help you every step of the way. They will make sure you can interact with locals in an easy and enjoyable way, acting as your cultural bridge.
2- I prefer a small group. How many people are usually in your tours ?
Our shared Ha Giang Loop tours have a maximum of 10 guests per group. In practice, groups are often smaller—usually around 5–7 guests during the high season and 2–4 guests during quieter periods. If there are more than 10 guests, we split them into smaller groups rather than running one large group.
3- I’m not interested in a party-focused tour. Is Dragon Team a good fit for me ?
Yes. Our tours are focused on exploring Ha Giang’s landscapes, local culture, villages, and everyday life rather than partying. We do not organize bar trips after dinner, and whenever possible, we choose accommodation with a quieter atmosphere and avoid large party-oriented groups. You may have the opportunity to try local homemade corn alcohol during dinner as part of the local culture, but drinking is always optional and there is no pressure to participate.
4- I’d prefer a private room. Is that an option ?
Yes. We offer four accommodation options: Dorm, Private Room with Shared Bathroom, Private Room with Private Bathroom (Ensuite), and Luxury Bungalow. If you choose a private room category, you will stay in that room category throughout the tour, or you may occasionally receive a free upgrade. We never downgrade your room category. You can check the available room options and prices in the detailed pricing table for each tour.
5- I want to ride the motorbike myself, but I don’t have an international driving permit. Is that a problem ?
To legally ride a motorbike in Vietnam, you need a driving licence or International Driving Permit that is valid and recognized in Vietnam for the type of motorbike you ride. If you do not have the required licence, we recommend choosing an Easy Rider, where an experienced local driver rides the motorbike for you. If you have questions about your specific situation, please contact us directly for more information.
6- What happens if the weather is bad during my tour ?
If the weather seriously affects safety, we will inform you and offer the option to reschedule or receive a refund according to our flexible policy. If it is raining but conditions are still safe for the journey, the tour will continue. We prepare raincoats, waterproof shoe covers, and large plastic bags to help keep your belongings dry.
7- Is travel insurance included in the tour ?
Yes. Travel insurance in Vietnam is included for participants on our tours. However, insurance coverage and compensation levels in Vietnam may be lower than those available in your home country. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you also purchase your own comprehensive travel insurance before traveling to Vietnam for additional protection.
8- Can I change my booking after I’ve booked, for example from 3 days to 4 days or from a group tour to a private tour ?
Yes. If you want to change your tour after booking, please contact us as soon as possible. We can usually help you change options such as moving from a 3-day tour to a 4-day tour or from a group tour to a private tour, subject to availability. You will only need to pay any additional cost resulting from the change.
9- What should I bring for the Ha Giang Loop ?
Once your booking is confirmed, we will send you a checklist by email to help you prepare for your trip. In general, we recommend bringing comfortable clothing, warm layers during colder months, suitable shoes, sunscreen, personal essentials, and a camera or phone for the incredible scenery.
10- I’m vegetarian. Can you arrange vegetarian meals for me during the tour ?
Yes. We can arrange vegetarian meals throughout your tour. Please let us know when you book so we can note your dietary requirements and arrange the meals in advance.
11- I have a gluten allergy (celiac disease). Can you make sure the food is safe for me during the tour ?
Yes. We have welcomed many guests with gluten allergies and celiac disease over the past 3.5 years, and we can arrange appropriate meals throughout your tour. Please let us know about your condition when booking so we can inform and coordinate with every accommodation and kitchen along your journey. We take food allergies seriously and will make sure your dietary requirements are carefully followed throughout the tour.
12- I’m traveling alone. Can I join a group tour ?
Yes. Solo travelers are very welcome to join our group tours, and many of our guests travel alone. You can join a small group and experience the Ha Giang Loop with other travelers without needing to book a private tour.
13- I get motion sickness easily. Is the journey to Ha Giang very winding ?
The journey to Ha Giang takes around 6–7 hours from Hanoi, and there are winding sections as you get closer to the mountains, so motion sickness can be a concern for some travelers. If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking your usual motion sickness medication before the journey and letting us know in advance so we can help arrange a suitable seat when possible.
14- I’m an older traveler. Is the Ha Giang Loop suitable for me ?
Yes. Age alone does not prevent you from experiencing Ha Giang. The most suitable option depends more on your health, mobility, and how comfortable you are with mountain travel. If you do not want to ride a motorbike yourself, you can choose an Easy Rider with an experienced local driver, and we also offer car tour options for travelers who prefer a more comfortable way to explore Ha Giang. Please contact us if you are unsure which option is best for you.
15- How far in advance should I book my tour ?
We recommend booking at least 4–7 days in advance whenever possible. This gives us more time to arrange your preferred accommodation, transportation, guide, and other services. We can still accept last-minute bookings when availability allows, so if your travel date is close, please contact us and we will check what we can arrange for you.
